Paintball Air Tanks: CO2 vs. HPA
Not sure which air tank belongs on your paintball setup? This quick guide explains the differences between CO₂ and HPA so you can choose with confidence.
CO₂
CO₂ is a budget-friendly option commonly used with entry-level or recreational paintball markers. It is widely available, but its pressure changes with temperature and can be less consistent during rapid firing.
HPA (High-Pressure Air)
HPA gives you more consistent pressure and is the standard choice for most modern electronic and mechanical markers. HPA tanks are reusable, filled with compressed air, and available in several sizes and output options.
Choosing the right tank
- Confirm that your marker is compatible with the tank type you choose.
- Consider tank size, weight, and the shot count you want.
- Choose a standard or adjustable regulator based on your marker and setup.
